Most tutoring companies aim at helping students with specific subjects, focusing on the content.
Our courses are designed to teach the key study skills that top students use to help them study smarter rather than harder. Without good study habits and strong study foundations in place, students will continue to struggle, no matter how much time they devote to their studies.
Often it is not their content knowledge that prevents students from achieving top results, but their struggles to decode, encode, retain and recall the information under assessment conditions.
Edvantage Australia teaches the essential study skill strategies for senior students.
By focusing on the skills rather than content, we help students develop effective habits that they can draw on regardless of the subjects they study, the educational path they follow, or indeed wherever they go throughout their lives. These are essential study skill strategies that will continue to help Senior students.
Our courses provide students with a holistic approach to their studies, ensuring that they have:
Without these foundations, no amount of subject knowledge will help students to experience success. There are currently 26 different workshops in our suite of lessons, each one focusing on a different skill used by the most successful students.
In this call, your child will be given a diagnostic test to determine areas of strength and room for improvement.
Between us, we will map out a plan to help your child gain direction and motivation for study, to help them gain the best possible results.
We can then determine the best course of action to suit you, your child and your budget.
To achieve top results at school, students don’t need to be brilliant. They also don’t need to spend their time working harder. They just need to learn how to work smarter.
Edvantage Australia teaches the essential study skill strategies for Senior students.
Today’s students report being more stressed than ever before. With so many things competing for their time, it’s hard for students to organise their days effectively and fit everything in. And of course the things that go will always be the ones they like least – which is often study.
Students need to have a balanced life. Playing sport, having a social life, maintaining family commitments and part time jobs are all important and necessary. So are sleeping and eating sensibly.
By learning the skills of organisation, revision, reflection and recall, students will achieve more work and better results more easily and efficiently.
Mindfulness techniques and a better understanding of assessment expectations will help students reduce their stress levels, maintain better health, gain more balance in their lives, and make family time more relaxed and enjoyable.
As teachers, we all know that study skills are vitally important for academic success. And yet often, in the busyness of school life, we don’t manage to find opportunities to overtly teach them.
As a classroom teacher for almost 30 years, I have always been dedicated to teaching young people and delight in helping them achieve and become the people they want to be. Over the years I have done all sorts of things to encourage students to get engaged and motivated enough to learn.
But I have always had a few students in my classes who worked tirelessly and for hours on end, yet could never improve their results.
It was never a lack of intellect or effort that stood in their way. But a lack of understanding of basic study skills. They struggled to interpret exam questions, to use the allocated time effectively, to express their thoughts in a sophisticated manner, or to spread their revision out to avoid late night cramming sessions.
Armed with these skills any child can achieve better results.
Already I have seen the huge difference these study techniques can make in some kids’ lives. I’ve watched them come to workshops feeling lost, overwhelmed and desperate, and leave feeling calm, motivated and in control.
And that’s exactly what I’d like to be able to do for you. I want to share study skill strategies with Senior students to give them the educational advantage to get the ATAR score they want to be able to pursue their dreams.

Many students find years 11 and 12 overwhelming with trying to juggle academic demand, part-time jobs, sporting and cultural commitments and a growing social life.
As parents, it is easy to feel as if all you ever do is nag them to focus on their work.
Why not let us take that stress off your shoulders and work hand-in-hand with your child, providing encouragement, motivation and advice along the way to help them do their very best.
Our ATAR Assistance Package gives you one-to-one support throughout the year, keeping your child on track and motivated.
To get started, book an ATAR Activation call so we can work with your child to develop a plan.
In order to be accepted into any tertiary course, students must have a pass in General English.
Our Masterclasses and study guides are designed to help students achieve the best possible results in English.
We have a number of study guides available, but are always happy to create more. If the text you are studying is not there, flick us an email and we’ll get started on creating a study guide for you.
Our 4 Masterclasses address each of the assessment tasks in QCE General English. Each course steps students through the objectives, criteria and descriptors used in each task, clearly explaining what each one means and how to achieve it.
Examplar texts are used to ensure that all students can learn the process, regardless of which text they are actually studying in school.
Our study guides focus on all of the texts on the prescribed list for the external English exam.
Study Guides for teachers provide background to the text, activities for the students, discussion points and an analysis of the key elements of the text.
Study Guides for students are written specifically to address the criteria and descriptors used on the external exam rubric. Each descriptor is explained and examples provided to show how to meet the requirements.
Examples of high and lower scoring responses are provided to show students what does and does not meet the task requirements.
Elements of the text are discussed in the terms used in the syllabus and in the rubric, ensuring students can understand and interpret the wording on the exam paper.
Our workshops, masterclasses and study resources have been designed to provide access to a range of educational advantages
